ProLiant DL380 یکی از برترین سرورهای رکمونت دو یونیته ۲U اچ پی است که فروش بسیار بالایی داشته و دارد. بررسی سرور HP ProLiant DL380 G7 را بخوانید تا متوجه شوید که مدل جدید نسل هفتم واقعا ارزش این شهرت قابل تحسین را دارد یا نه. سرور HP ProLiant DL380 G7 در زمان خود جزو بهترین های نسل هفتم بود وو هنوز هم بعد از گذشت بیش از ده سال جایگاه نسبتا مناسبی در بین کاربران ایرانی دارد. از آنجایی که قیمت بسیار پایینی دارد بیشتر کاربرانی که به دنبال خرید سرور ارزان هستند نیم نگاهی به سرورهای نسل ۷ در کنار سرورهای نسل ۸ دارند.
HP به سرور ProLiant DL380 بسیار افتخار می کند و ادعا می کند که مدل G6 سرور رکمونت دو یونیتی بهترین فروش را در دنیا داشته است. نسخه جدیدتر نسل هفت علاوه بر قابلیت هایی که در نسل ۶ دیده شد قابلیت های حتی بیشتری را با اولویت دهی در انعطاف پذیری، مدیریت و نظارت بر انرژی ارائه می دهد. مدیریت از راه دور یکی از حوزه های مهمی است که HP بر روی آن متمرکز شده است و این یکی از سرورهای ProLiant است که با کنترلر تعبیه شده جدید iLO3 ظاهر شده است. اچ پی ادعا می کند که کنترلر از راه دور iLO3 حدود ۸ برابر سریعتر از iLO2 است و سرویس های رسانه مجازی بیش از سه برابر سریعتر شده اند. کنسول از راه دور تعبیه شده ویندوز می تواند مقیاس پذیری بسیار ساده ای داشته باشد و به نظارت های چندگانه توسعه داده شود و نسخه لینوکس قابلیت های بیشتری را نسبت به نسخه های قبلی خود ارائه می دهد. دسترسی امن برای کنترلرهای iLO همیشه خوب بوده است اما حالا با رمزگذاری سخت افزاری AES این امنیت بیشتر شده است.
HP هنوز بهترین قابلیت های iLO را که در نسخه های قبلی وجود دارد را ارائه می دهد. تعداد افزاینده ای از فروشندگان عملکردهای پشتیبانی مانند کنترل از راه دور سرور را به عنوان استاندارد ارائه می دهند اما برای دریافت موارد بیشتر در تراشه iLO3 باید لایسنس ارتقاء را خریداری کنید. در صورتی که می خواهید مدیریت انرژی داشته باشید و از قابلیت های پلی بک ویدیویی استفاده کنید شما نیاز به این ارتقاء دارید. در لایسنس اولیه نمودارها و تجزیه و تحلیل هایی از انرژی های مصرفی و همچنین تنظیمات و کنترل ها در اختیار شما قرار داده می شود در حالی که در لایسنس ارتقاء داده شده شما می توانید رویدادهایی مانند فرآیند بوت شدن را ضبط کند و به شما این امکان را می دهد تا در اوقات فراغت خود فیلم های ضبط شده را با برنامه iLO Video Player مشاهده کنید.

شما می توانید به صورت از راه دور فریم ویرهای موجود در سرور را ارتقاء دهید و از حد آستانه برای ارسال هشدارها و اخطارها استفاده کنید و Power Manager را ارتقاء دهید و همچنین انرژی مصرفی سرور، عملکرد پردازنده، دما را مدیریت کنید و همچنین نمودارهایی از سابقه های موجود را مشاهده کنید.
اچ پی در داخل سرور DL380 G7 تغییرات مهمی ایجاد کرده است چونکه صفحه فلزی بزرگی که کل مادربرد G6 را پوشانده بود حالا با یک نسخه کوچکتر عوض شده است. این صفحه فلزی در حال حاضر تنها نیمه عقب مادربرد را پوشش می دهد و از کارت های رایزر پشتیبانی می کند و تعویض و برداشتن قطعات بسیار ساده تر شده است.
خنک کننده بزرگی که در G6 وجود داشت هم دچار تغییر شده است. حالا پوشش شفاف کوچکی وجود دارد که دور سوکت های پردازنده متمرکز شده است (به جای اینکه بالای آن قرار بگیرد). به نظر می رسد این چیدمان به خوبی کار می کند. با وجود اینکه ۴ فن خنک کننده hot plug وجود دارد اما سرور تقریبا ساکت و بدون سر و صدا کار می کند.
مانند G6، در این نسخه هم شما گزینه های ارتقاء را در اختیار دارید. یک کارت رایزر که دارای سه اسلات PCI Express است. شما می توانید کارت رایزر دوم را اضافه کنید و در هر دو مورد شما می توانید اسلات های PCI Express و PCI-X را به صورت ترکیبی داشته باشید.
از نظر ظرفیت ذخیره سازی، DL380 هنوز بهترین گزینه ها را در کلاس خود دارد و فضای کافی در جلو برای اضافه کردن ۱۶ بی هارد hot swap وجود دارد. سرور جدید IBM System x3650 M3 به تازگی این تعداد را پوشش می دهد اما سرور رکمونت Dell PowerEdge R710 2U هنوز از هشت هارد SFF استفاده می کند و عقب مانده است. با این حال برای ارتقاء به ۱۶ هارد نیاز به تعویض صفحه خالی در پنل جلو با یک بی ثانویه هشت درایوی است. این بدان معناست که شما باید درایو نوری را بردارید و برای مدیریت آن باید کارت توسه Smart Array یا Smart SAS را اضافه کنید. به لطف کنترلر تعبیه شده Smart Array P410i RAID، ۸ کانکتور SAS در مادربرد وجود دارد. ماژول کش ۲۵۶ مگابایتی دارای یک پلاگین برای پک باتری بکاپ اختیاری است.
